Let’s talk about your work

During this free 30-minute consultation, we’ll talk about where you are in your writing process, what challenges you’re facing, and what your goals are for your fiction.

By the end of our call, you’ll have a clearer sense of next steps—whether that’s working together or simply refining your writing process on your own.

What to Expect:

  1. Book your time – Pick a slot below that fits your schedule.

  2. Answer questions to help get the most out of your session – This helps me prepare for your project.

  3. Join the call – We’ll meet via Zoom and focus on your story’s next steps.

DIAGNOSTIC SESSION PREP

To help me prepare for our session and make the most of our time together, please be prepared to answer the following questions. You may also upload answers to these in the File Upload section below, along with uploading your writing sample. The more specific you can be, the more useful our session will be.

Please send 1-3 pages of your manuscript along with your answers. Ideally, you send the opening of your manuscript. However, if you feel this is not representative of your “average” work, then you can send a different sample. Note: I’m not looking for your best pages, but rather pages that feel representative of your typical prose. I am not judging the pages; I am using them to prepare a real diagnosis before we talk.

ABOUT THE MANUSCRIPT

·      What genre is it, and approximately how long is it (or how long do you expect it to be)?

·      Where are you in the process—first draft, multiple drafts, currently revising?

·      How long have you been working on this specific manuscript?

·      Have you shared it with anyone else—beta readers, writing groups, previous editors? If so, what feedback did you receive?

·      What do you think is working well in the manuscript?

·      What do you think is not working, or what feels unresolved?

ABOUT YOUR GOALS

·      What does success look like for this manuscript—traditional publishing, self-publishing, literary magazines, or something else?

·      What is your timeline, if you have one?

·      Are you looking for help with this specific project, or are you interested in developing as a writer more broadly over time?

ABOUT YOUR WRITING BACKGROUND

·      How long have you been writing seriously?

·      Have you completed other manuscripts before this one?

·      Have you worked with an editor or coach before? If so, what was useful or not useful about that experience?

·      What writers do you most admire, and what specifically do you admire about them?
